The Board of Elders, as assistants to the Pastoral office, shall concern themselves with the spiritual life of the congregation, supervision of public worship, spiritual care of the congregation, church discipline, and care for the wellness of the Called Leadership Team and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Develop, maintain, and regularly evaluate a system of contact with all active members of the congregation in order to care for them, and enlist them in the mission and ministry of the Congregation.
  • Assist the Pastoral office in ministering to members of the Congregation who are struggling with difficult issues.
  • Consult with the Pastor so that the Word of God is preached in its truth and purity, the Holy Sacraments are administered in accordance with Christ’s institution, and Lutheran doctrine and practices are preserved in the Congregation.
  • Consult with the Pastor so that the Worship Committee is supervised and its needs are supplied. (See Article VII, Section 2 of these By-Laws)
  • Assist with the distribution of the Lord’s Supper in the worship life of the Congregation when necessary.
  • Direct the activities of the ushers and acolytes in maintaining church decorum at all services.
  • Oversee the delivery of the tithes and offerings of the Congregation to the safe after each worship service.
  • Determine eligibility for membership of all individuals and families applying for membership in the Congregation. (See Article IV of this Constitution.)
  • Assist the Pastor in exercising loving discipline within the Congregation according to Scripture, the Lutheran Confessions, and Article IV of this Constitution.
  • Develop, maintain, and regularly evaluate a system of contact with all inactive members of the Congregation in order to care for them, and enlist them in the mission and ministry of the Congregation.
  • Review Communion and Worship attendance of all members as a tool in spiritual care for the Congregation.
  • Consult with the Pastor to see that instruction in Luther’s Small Catechism in preparation for Confirmation and Holy Communion is provided for the Congregation.
  • Provide one (1) elder as a member of the Wellness Committee to serve as a liaison from the Board.
  • Pray for, encourage, and be concerned about the spiritual, emotional and physical health and welfare of the Called Leadership Team and their families.

Wednesday - 7:00 PM Mid-Week Worship at Grace Lutheran Church

Thursday - 2:00 PM Prayer Service at Grace Lutheran Church

Holy Communion is celebrated at all Services on the first, third and fifth Sunday each month
